I’m an ex-member of the International Churches of Christ since 2005 and this blog is about my personal insights and general commentaries. I still hold to Christian beliefs but I also look at some of the pitfalls of religion and ideological movements. I’m not a part of the ICOC or Kip Mckean’s new movement and I oppose 1-on-1 discipling.

Im sorry to hear that.. The church has made some mistakes in the past and I once left the church as well, but I had to come to terms that One on One is not only biblical but very very needed in our daily relationship with god. the problem was you had a bunch of knuckle heads thats thought they were god but that gone an advice is only advice.. When I left the church i realized that other churches have some great music and preaching but dont have the structure of the 1st century church.. acts 2:42-47. I see what you mean, I might clarify, I oppose discipling that’s been practiced by the ICOC, and the way they’ve used it for control over peoples lives with overtly or otherwise. Of course, if all ‘discipling’ is is Christian training, then I’m all for it, but the term has become twisting. For many been abused by discipling, even the term gives them goose-bumps.
Also, I believe the only person we need for our relationship with God is Jesus. Sure, fellowship and training is important, but I caution churches making appointed individuals in ones Christian life as mandatory or coercing the situation if they say it isn’t mandatory.

I tried to leave a comment on one of your posts, “Walk in the Light” but was unable to, just thought I’d let you know.

Not a problem, I know how busy life can get and often the blog comes last! Just wanted to make sure you knew that the comments feature isn’t working. Aside from that I like your approach to the subjects you cover. We are like minded in your post of “Walk in the Light”. I live in a black and white world, things are right or wrong, we can dress them up however we want but that is only self-delusion. When arguing a topic I always look at the extreme cases where it is difficult to ‘dress up’ the issue. An argument I have with my priest (yes I am Catholic) all the time. People seem to forget that there is a difference between being judgmental and exercising moral/ethical judgment. We have crossed the line from judgment to acceptance, a result from the personal morality devolution. I could go on but like I said we seem to me like minded. Keep writing because people are reading!
